RAT DESCRIPTION -BEWARE: To the untrained eye, Water Voles (above) may be mistaken for Rats. Water Voles have shorter tails, and their body is generally more rounded. Also, the Water Vole's nose is less pointed, and the ears lay flat and are well hidden, (unlike the pointed ears of the Rat). Rats are Vermin. The Water Vole is a Protected Species.
